...I want you to know this...my anger’s all but done…

This lyric from the track Satellites on the album The Last Broadcast by doves has been constantly in my mind the past few weeks. There’s been a lot of stops and starts. A lot of times trying to find a rhythm that I was used to and never getting there and getting angry about it. I put The Last Broadcast on to escape for a bit, to find some music that takes to me to good places mentally.

This album, I think a bit more focused musically than Lost Souls, is a cohesive marvel. From the intro leading into Words, leading to There Goes the Fear, and on and on, until you get to Caught By The River. Every track works together. Some tracks stick out more than others, of course, but the amazing thing about music is coming to a favorite album at a different stage in your life. Tracks that mattered 10 years ago – not as much anymore. Tracks that were overlooked back then now mean so much…

Satellites has been a huge help in my trying to evolve and adjust to different rhythms of life. Caught By The River means so much more now, as a father. Wow. N.Y. is a blast of nostalgia, remembering the time my wife and I lived in Brooklyn.

As one can probably tell, this is an album that has deep meaning for me. If you give it a spin I hope you enjoy it. And if you have specific records you love that you haven’t listened to in a while, put them on this week and see what happens. You just might find a new perspective in the familiar sound.
